How to Find the Right Minecraft Username for ENDOS SMP

When signing up for ENDOS SMP, you need to enter your Minecraft Java Edition username. This can be confusing because Microsoft now owns Minecraft, and usernames work differently between Java, Bedrock, and Xbox Live. Here’s how to figure it out.

The Three Types of Minecraft Usernames

  • Xbox Gamertag
This is linked to your Microsoft account.
Works for Xbox and Bedrock (mobile, console, Windows 10/11).
    Not valid for ENDOS SMP.
  • Bedrock Username
Usually the same as your Xbox Gamertag.
Used on phones, tablets, consoles, and Windows 10/11.
    Not valid for ENDOS SMP.
  • Java Edition Username
Set in your Mojang/Microsoft account for Java Edition.
Appears above your character in Minecraft Java.
This is the one ENDOS SMP needs.

How to Find Your Java Username

  1. Open the Minecraft Launcher on PC.
  2. Select Minecraft: Java Edition.
  3. Log in if prompted.
  4. Look at the top of the launcher — your Java username is displayed there.
  5. You’ll also see it above your character’s head in-game.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don’t use your email address.
  • Don’t enter your Xbox Gamertag (that’s for Bedrock).
  • Make sure it’s 3–16 characters with letters, numbers, or underscores.
